Following is the 10-step process to legally register and start a business in India:
- Company Name Availability Verification: Checking whether the proposed business name is available or already in use.
- Digital Signature Certificate (DSC): Obtaining a digital signature for online registration and filing of documents.
- Business Incorporation Certificate: Registering the business legally and receiving the official incorporation certificate.
- PAN and TAN Registration: Applying for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN).
- GSTIN Registration: Registering under the Goods & Services Tax (GST) for taxation purposes.
- Shops and Establishment / Trade License: Obtaining permission from local authorities to conduct business activities.
- ESI and EPF Registration: Registering employees for insurance (ESI) and provident fund (EPF) benefits.
- Contract Labour and Professional Tax Registration: Completing labor law and professional tax formalities as required.
- Preparation of Important Documents: Submitting identity proof, address proof, and business details to the relevant authorities.
- Commencement of Business: After completing all registrations, the business can officially start its operations.
