Unit 4: Resources and Challenges

1. What is Mobilization Of Resources By Startups?

Mobilization of resources means to assemble, organize, and procure the required resources for the successful establishment of an enterprise.
This process is an essential part of 'new business development'. All kind of enterprises need resources.

Startup Resources can be catagorized as:
  1. Financial Resources: The funds needed to start and grow the startup. These include personal savings, loans, angel investors, venture capital, and crowdfunding.
  2. Human Resources: The people involved in the startup including founders, employees, advisors, mentors, and partners. Skill, experience, and team dynamics are crucial here.
  3. Physical Resources:
    Tangible
assets like office space, equipment, machinery, inventory, and infrastructure required for operations.
  4. Intellectual Resources:
    Intangible
assets such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, proprietary technology, brand reputation, and business processes.

2. What are the Challenges Faced By Startups?

Startups operate in a high-risk environment and often face the following hurdles:

  • Fierce Competition: Many competitors in the market offer similar products or services, making it difficult to stand out, attract customers, and maintain prices.
  • Unrealistic Expectations: Owners, clients, or stakeholders may expect very high results in a short time or with limited resources, leading to pressure and stress.
  • Hiring Suitable Candidates: Finding the right employees with the required skills, experience, and attitude is challenging. Hiring the wrong people can affect productivity and teamwork.
  • Partnership Issues: While partnerships can bring growth, they can also lead to conflicts due to differences in ideas, responsibilities, or profit-sharing.
  • Decision Making: Making good decisions is vital for success but can be difficult due to risk, uncertainty, and the need to balance multiple factors.
  • Cyber Security: Protecting a company's data, systems, and networks from hackers and online attacks is essential to prevent data breaches.
  • Winning Trust of Customers: Gaining customer confidence through quality products, honest communication, and reliable service is one of the most important challenges.
